Hi,

 

Working currently on Precipitation Data of CMAP which use NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis for worldwide date, I would like to find the uncertainty that could appears with the interpolation models used, in the forms of correlation (like r² fitting) with verification buoy for example.

I asked an expert and they replied

"I have seen comparisons between NWP, radar and satellites.  In the mid-latitudes,

the NWP does pretty good.  (R1 is pretty old and low resolution, so it wouldn't do as well.) 

I am not sure how much CMAP uses R1.   Anyways any comparison would be useless

unless it was done on the same time scale (CMAP is pentad average), on a similar grid."
